We said hello to your new SU Leadership Team.

Essex SU is run for students, by students! Every year you elect 7 students to work full-time, running the SU for a year. They represent different areas such as education, activities, welfare, international students and communities – making sure you have the best uni experience possible 🎉💛.

We came together for Diwali

We celebrated Diwali, the Festival Of Light 🪔 with a series of events including; Decorate a tea light holder, Rangoli on Square 2, Make a wish at the Lakes and Desi Night Ft. DJ Harpz.

REMEMBER REMEMBER

5TH NOVEMBER

REMEMBER REMEMBER 5TH NOVEMBER

It went off with a bang 🎇

The weather was not on our side but that didn’t stop over 4,500 of you coming together for SU Fireworks. The biggest, free event on campus, with food trucks, stalls by Societies, music, and Rebel hosting, the atmosphere was magical.

SU Football Fest ⚽

We built a football festival that shared our values. One that celebrated you; our amazing, diverse and international community.

Crucially, we used the tournament as an opportunity to promote worker rights and LGBTQ+ rights. Supporting Amnesty International's #PAYUPFIFA petition and promoting The Gender Affirmation Fund that offers trans students at Essex funding to purchase gender affirming items.

With inclusive spaces to watch the games free of charge and events to meet new people.

There were cheers, beers and tears 😭 as teams were knocked out. (Unless you were supporting Argentina that is!)

December

A shortie but a goodie.

The final month of term one was epic.

With SU Makes, cultural events and festive fun…

National Day of Romania

We kicked off December by celebrating the National Day of Romania with a traditional dance on square 3.
