It’s the end of the [academic] year and we want to share all the incredible things that you’ve achieved through the SU. Here are some of our favourite memories…
Essex has a top rated Students’ Union. Again.
But first, we want to start with a BIG thank you!
For the 4th year running, the annual Whatuni Student Choice Awards ranked us as one of the best Students’ Unions in the country! These awards are voted for by YOU, so we couldn’t be prouder 🏆

Term one
It was so great to meet you all at the SU Freshers Fair.
And the fun soon followed, with games & events including caddies golf, Karaoke and Crafts!
You went crazy for golf ⛳
Caddies Mini Golf became a solid favourite throughout the year.
Socials
We held a lot of mixers in Term One! From Coffee + Tea with your VP, Game Night, Quizzes and Pumpkin Carving it was great to see everyone making new friends!
We said hello to your new SU Leadership Team.
Every year 7 students are elected by other students to run our SU for a year. And after two years of the pandemic, this year’s team were determined to get the SU back up and running again for all our student members 💛.

We held a series of festive events during the Winter Break including Gingerbread House making and FREE Christmas Dinners.
Because Christmas is, of course, a time for giving!

TERM TWO
SU Volunteering Week ✌
SVW23, completed it mate. You came out to support us in force for V-Team’s record breaking SU Student Volunteering Week, with 3,000+ volunteering hours clocked, including the Southend Beach Clean + Packing bags of essentials for Southend homeless charity HARP.
EID Celebrations
Throughout the month of Ramadan, the SU hosted a special Eid-al-Fitr celebration here in Southend!
Drag Night Scratch Night
Thanks to everyone who joined us for Drag Scratch Night - it was an unforgettable night of world class performances!
TERM THREE
Holi: Festival of Colours
The sun was (finally!) shining for us as Holi: Festival of Colour took place at our Colchester campus in May. Over 700 of you came together (including Southend Students) to celebrate with a live DJ, drum performances, traditional drink, free t-shirts, and of course... LOADS of paint.
One World Essex.
We came together to celebrate our One World Essex campaign for fun filled day including a flag parade and Quiz!
We’ll be in touch with the Paddle Boarding and Picnic in the Park material next week!
SU Big Weekend
It was so great to celebrate the end of the year with you at the SU Big Weekend! Activities included Paddle Boarding alongside a picnic in the park!
So, that’s a wrap on 22/23.
